ELECTRIC CONSTANT SPEED PROPELLERS FOR EXPERIMENTAL AND LIGHT SPORT AIRCRAFT

Designed to ASTM F2506 (Standard Specification for Design and Testing of Light Sport Aircraft Propellers), AXSport Aviation’s range of lightweight three-blade electric constant speed propellers are designed for non type certified aircraft. The microprocessor controller adjusts the blade pitch automatically in order to maintain a chosen RPM, irrespective of the amount of engine torque being produced or the airspeed.

The AXSport constant speed propellers are simple to operate, weigh little more than ground adjustable propellers and are priced to make great performance affordable. Fly with the maximum performance possible from your aircraft. Full engine power is now available for take-off, climb, cruise and effective propeller braking is available to slow the aircraft down on landing.

CARBON FIBRE BLADES

The propeller blades are designed and manufactured in-house using vacuum infusion epoxy and high strength carbon fibre to make the lightest, stiffest, and strongest blades possible. The design has been tested to exceed more than 4 times the blade retention load required by ASTN F2506.

  • Computer designed, highly optimised blade aerodynamics
  • Vacuum infused carbon epoxy blade construction with vibration damping foam core
  • Low mass & rotational inertia, factory balanced for smooth flight
  • Carbon construction offers very long fatigue life
  • Stainless-steel leading-edge erosion protection and solid carbon leading edge resists damage

  • HUBS

The CAD/CAM designed propeller hubs are CNC machined in-house from aircraft grade aluminium billet, to ensure that the critical tolerances affecting smooth operation and perceived vibration are precisely met. The hubs have been designed for strength and long fatigue life as opposed to the lightest mass to mitigate the potential for hub failure during operation. The hub has two fixed pitch stops that limit the propeller pitch range for safety and two adjustable microswitch controlled pitch stops.

    CONSTANT SPEED CONTROLLER

The microprocessor driven constant speed controller provides precise and highly reliable constant speed control of the propeller RPM. The controller has been developed in house and has been designed for simple and intuitive operation, ensuring the pilot always knows what the propeller is doing. The controller can automatically control propeller RPM in CS (constant speed) mode, or the pilot can manually control pitch in VP (variable pitch) mode.

    CARBON FIBRE SPINNER

The spinner is made from carbon fibre reinforced epoxy. It is extremely rigid, light weight, crack, and corrosion resistant. The spinner backing plates are press moulded carbon epoxy, making them extremely strong and rigid yet lightweight.

    SERVICE SCHEDULE

The propeller is maintained on-condition. The condition of the propeller is monitored by a combination of pilot monitoring during operation and regular inspection as detailed below. The propeller contains no life-limited parts. In all cases the original propeller operations manual, or the latest one issued, is the governing document for service intervals for each specific propeller by serial number.

    MODELS

The 3-blade, tractor propellers are suitable for 80hp – 141 hp Rotax engines and up to 180 hp Lycoming engines. The propeller system includes a carbon fibre spinner, carbon fibre backing plate, constant speed controller, wiring loom and installation hardware. Propeller lifetime is not specified if mandatory periodical inspections are performed at specified intervals. TBO is 1000 operational hours or 60 months. Maximum propeller diameter is 74”.
